Approval Of A Contract With Friends Of Energy Institute High School To Operate Energy Institute High School With Texas Partnership Benefits (1882 Benefits)

The Houston Independent School District (HISD) School Board is asked to approve a contract with Friends of Energy Institute High School to operate Energy Institute High School beginning in the 2026-2027 school year. The contract establishes a Texas Partnership, commonly referred to as an SB1882 Partnership, with Friends of Energy Institute High School. HISD is seeking Texas Partnership benefits from the Texas Education Agency with this contract.
The board authorized the superintendent of schools on February 12, 2026, to explore such a partnership and Texas Partnership benefits, as well as negotiate a contract.

recommendation
RECOMMENDED: That the School Board approves a contract with Friends of Energy Institute High School to operate Energy Institute High School beginning in the 2026-2027 school year, effective March 27, 2026.
