Consideration And Adoption Of A Resolution Claiming An Exception To Texas Education Code Section 37.0814

The Houston Independent School District School Board is asked to formally adopt a resolution reflecting its September 2025 vote to renew the alternate standard of compliance adopted in September 2023 based on its determination that good cause existed (and continues to exist). The alternate standard of compliance adopted in September 2023 and reaffirmed in September 2025 continues to ensure the safety and security of all students, employees, and community members.

recommendation
RECOMMENDED: That the School Board approves a resolution claiming a good cause exception and Alternative Plan for compliance with Texas Education Code section 37.0814 pursuant to the vote taken in September 2025, effective February 27, 2026.
