Authorization To Negotiate And Execute Interlocal Venue Rental Agreements With Governmental Entities And Texas Public Institutions Of Higher Education

This agenda item requests approval from the Houston Independent School District (HISD) School Board to authorize the superintendent of schools or a designee to negotiate and execute interlocal venue rental agreements with governmental entities and Texas public institutions to allow school campuses to rent facilities owned by public entities for student activities such as dances, field trips, proms, performances, and exhibitions.
Examples of governmental entities and Texas public institutions with which schools can enter into venue rental agreements include but are not limited to:
• City of Houston
• City of Bellaire
• Harris County
• University of Houston System
• University of Texas System
• Lamar University
• Houston Community College
• Lone Star College
• Texas A&M University System

COST/FUNDING SOURCE(S): |
The total cost for these agreements will be determined based on individual campus selection(s) of publicly owned venues. Payment for these venue rentals will be funded by school-based student activity funds. |

RECOMMENDED: That the School Board authorizes the superintendent of schools or designee to negotiate and execute interlocal venue rental agreements with governmental entities and Texas public institutions of higher education, effective April 24, 2025.
