The purpose of this agenda item is to request that the Houston Independent School District (HISD) School Board approves revisions to Board Policy CSA(LOCAL), Facility Standards: Safety and Security. The changes are recommended by the Texas Association of School Boards to comply with Senate Bill 8 by including a section on Designation and Use of Private Spaces and by the administration to update reporting requirements for building access control.
A copy of CSA(LOCAL) showing the proposed changes is attached.

RECOMMENDED: That the School Board accepts the proposed revisions to Board Policy CSA(LOCAL), Facility Standards: Safety and Security, on first reading, effective June 12, 2026.
