The purpose of this agenda item is to request that the Houston Independent School District (HISD) School Board approves the adoption of Board Policy FA(LOCAL), Parent Rights and Responsibilities.
The proposed policy aligns with Senate Bill 12, Texas Education Code 26.0071(1), changes to legal policy, and recommendations from the Texas Association of School Boards regarding the requirement to provide an internet portal for parents of district students to submit comments to campus or district administrators and the board.
A copy of the proposed Board Policy FA(LOCAL), Parent Rights and Responsibilities, is attached.
